The origin that appears the most credible is certainly that granted to the Arabs who invented caramel around the year 1000 by perfecting the processes of decanting sugar cane syrup.
It was in 1977, on the Quiberon Peninsula (France) that the caramel au beurre salé was born. The famous chocolate maker from Quiberon, Mr. Henri Le Roux, wanted to innovate in his confectionery by showcasing Brittany and his salted butter.
Europe and Asia love it!
